Transmission Project Engineer – San Diego

A primary focus of this position is implementing the quality control process for the procurement of steel structures including design, fabrication and receiving.  Duties include review of point load drawings, fabrication drawings and field verification of delivered structures throughout the utility’s service territory.  The successful candidate will work along side highly experienced construction professionals to incorporate constructability elements into the design and fabrication of steel structures.  The successful candidate will evaluate, interact, and coordinate with ECI and utility stakeholders to implement improvements to design standards, as well as assisting with related field quality control functions during construction.  Detailed training of specific duties and responsibilities will be provided.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years’ design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet project schedules.  A commitment to progress towards PE licensure is encouraged.  The successful applicant must have fundamental knowledge of transmission engineering principals and applicable codes and standards.  PLS-CADD experience is preferred.  The successful applicant may be subject to client-mandated drug and background checking.  Occasional travel/driving is required; therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI’s auto insurance carrier requirements.
