Project Spotlight: Wheatridge Wind

December 10, 2020

ECI’s David Werner and his team of experienced professionals are excited to announce the commercial operation of Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility! This ambitious venture by NextEra Energy Resources combines wind, solar, and battery storage into one location in Morrow County, Oregon. Generating 300 MW of wind power, 50 MW of solar power, with the ability to store 30 MW of renewable energy, Wheatridge is anticipated to be one of the United States’ first large-scale wind, solar, and storage combination facilities. As the substation engineers for this project, David and his team designed the substation that connects 300 MW of wind power to Portland General Electric Company’s transmission system, to provide renewable energy throughout Eastern Oregon. With 20 years of experience in project engineering, David is one of ECI’s leading substation managers. We’re excited to be reaching another milestone with our friends at NextEra!
