ECI was the consulting engineer for all four (4) phases of the Blythe BESS development across a three-year period. The projects utilized outdoor BESS battery containers to connect stored battery energy to the Southern California Edison system. ECI was responsible for complete design of the BESS facilities including layout and siting, collection and interconnection. All BESS project work also included expansions at the Dracker Substation, a five position 230 kV ring bus with the addition of 34.5 kV feeder bays on the GSU3 bus.
- The Blythe I BESS Project included installation of a 63 MW/4 MWh battery energy storage facility in Blythe, California, with interconnection to the existing Blythe Solar Energy Facility Collection Substation.
- The Blythe II BESS Project included installation of 125 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage.
- The Blythe III BESS Project included installation of 25 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage.
- The Blythe IV BESS Project included installation of 47 MW/188 MWh battery energy storage
- Full design of BESS system at Blythe Solar Facility, a 235 MW solar facility in southern California.
- Additional design of required upgrades for interconnection at Dracker Substation.
