A great way to wrap up the month of January here at ECI – EDF Renewables has announced the completion of Desert Harvest 1 and 2 Solar Projects! Located in Riverside, California, these solar facilities produce 214 MWdc in renewable solar energy. That’s enough renewable energy for 77,000 California homes, according to EDF’s estimates.
ECI and our sister company, EPCS, were thrilled to play a part in this project. As power delivery consultants and construction managers, we provided the full design and build of Desert Harvest 1 & 2’s 230-34.5 kV substation, and over 11 miles of transmission line for the solar facilities.
Solar energy is quickly becoming the future of power across the U.S. In 2020, a record 19 GW of new solar energy installation occurred, up 43% from 2019 [1]. And with the completion of Desert Harvest at the start of 2021, the future for solar energy is looking brighter than ever.
