ECI team members attended a 487E transformer relay training session earlier this month.
The training focused on a centralized substation protection philosophy that uses a 487E transformer relay produced by Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) for breaker failure, transformer, and feeder protection. The training finished off with a private tour of Hoover Dam.
“It was one of the most engaging training sessions I have ever been a part of. We were lucky to have Brad Heilman from SEL, who is both knowledgeable and approachable and was able to cover a wide range of topics in two short days.
We had engineers from 10 different offices, many of whom had never met in person. This helps build our team, fosters genuine connections, and makes it easier for us to reach out to others when needed.
As a new employee of ECI, meeting so many protection engineers was especially valuable to me. With everyone’s focused attention, we had productive discussions that included everyone’s perspective, and we left with a better understanding of what we will be doing moving forward. I have a much better feel for how things work and who I can call with questions.
On top of all that, the Hoover Dam tour was impressive and a fantastic end to our trip.”
