ECI provided design for two battery energy storage systems (BESS) for the Arlington Solar Project. Arlington Solar is a 233 megawatt NextEra facility located in Blythe, California. The BESS facilities are made up of two separate units and PPAs.

One Unit includes a 110MW/4 hour facility, with 47 MW installed initially and 63 MW reserved for future installation. This project is an outdoor BESS, utilizing battery containers designed to connect the total of approximately 305 MW of stored battery energy from the battery containers to the 34.5-230 kV Suncatcher Substation upon completion. ECI also designed Suncatcher Substation in 2019. (NEXT-161).

The later phase of this project, Arlington III, was also completed by ECI under a separate project. Arlington BESS III Unit is a 132 MW/4 hour facility. This project is an outdoor BESS, utilizing battery containers designed to connect the total of approximately 305 MW of stored battery energy from the battery containers to the 34.5-230 kV Suncatcher Substation, which is also part of the Arlington Solar build.
