This award-winning facility was recognized by Energy Storage North America (ESNA) for the 2015 Innovation Award for Centralized Storage and by Power Engineering and Renewable Energy World Magazine’s 2015 Project of the Year Award for Best Renewable Project.
Grand Ridge is the largest renewable energy center in the world with wind, solar and advanced-energy storage in one location. The 32 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) began commercial operation as the second-largest lithium project in the world. The primary use is for fast frequency regulating services in the PJM Market. In addition to the 32 MW storage unit, Grand Ridge houses a 210 MW wind farm; a 20 MW solar project; a second, 1.5 MW energy storage project, and a third, 3 MW storage project.
