System Reliability & Compliance

ECI/EPCS provided the design, construction, and testing of the new collection substation and transmission line. ECI’s scope included full North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance reports consisting of Protection System and Coordination of Generating Unit or Plant Capabilities, Voltage Regulating Controls, and Protection among others.

Helena Energy Center Substation was built for a new wind generation facility. Helena Energy Center Substation includes two (2) Main Power Transformers (MPTs) and connects to the 345kV transmission system.  The transmission line carries the generation from the wind farm to the Point of Interconnection (POI), which combines power from fifty-one (66) Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs).  The net generation is 268.2 MW at the POI.
