UDOT widened 10600 South between Redwood Road and Jordan Gateway to increase safety and mobility. This busy road section currently accommodates 40,000 vehicles every day, with an expected traffic volume increase of 30 percent by the year 2040.
This widening project added a travel lane in each direction by removing the median and park strip, re-striping the roadway and purchasing a minimal width of land on each side of the existing highway. Other features are improved access to nearby destinations by including dual turn lanes at 1300 West and Jordan Gateway, the construction of bike shoulders and upgrades to curb, gutter, sidewalks and drainage.
Work began in the summer 2017 and was completed in late 2018. These improvements prolong the life of the roads and bridges and improves traffic flow travel throughout this area.
ECI’s Land Services Department was contracted to provide right of way services in support of the roadway expansion project. ECI negotiated and acquired land deeds, temporary construction easements and public utility easements for the project on behalf of the city.
