Our engineering team specializes in the design, programming, and commissioning of automated control & protection systems. We offer domain experience in the areas of hydroelectric and fossil fuel power generation, substation automation & integration, utility interconnect, renewable energy facilities, wind farms, utility-scale solar, and distributed energy resources.

Our engineers have extensive experience with communication data concentrators, RTUs, protective relays, PLC & HMI, to complete SCADA solutions. We optimize your assets and maximize production while focusing on safety and reliability. Our project experience includes greenfield & brownfield plant protection & controls, automation; protective relays, frequency governors, water management systems, fish passage automation, generator excitation, flow & level control equipment automation, remote monitoring and alarm notification, and dam failure and monitoring systems.

Renewables (Inverter based)

Renewable Energy markets are projected to grow steadily in the coming decades. Wind and Solar generation has emerged as some of the best alternatives to meet the growing demand for renewable power with competitive costs and environmental advantages.

ECI’s engineering staff has the expertise to address major items related to renewable projects including project siting & environmental permitting, transmission line routing & design, substation design, collection system design, system studies & analysis, SCADA design & integration, protection design & studies, metering design, interconnection studies, application support, and full EPC execution.

ECI has participated at some level in 28% of all wind and 45% of all solar projects installed at utility scale in the U.S., a staggering market share that demonstrates the value ECI brings to renewable energy.

ECI’s experience in energy storage systems is extensive and wide-ranging. Since 2009, ECI has been involved in some capacity in approximately one-third of all utility scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the U.S.

Our experience includes over 5000 MW of installed BESS facilities, including unique projects such as the “World’s Largest” (at the time) BESS, vanadium redox flow (VBR) battery system and distribution level hybrid solar-storage microgrids. ECI’s roles include owner engineer, detailed design/Engineer-of-Record, and full EPC construction across the entire project life cycle, from conceptual, studies/planning and permitting to testing & commissioning.

ECI’s Industrial Systems staff has extensive experience in the design of a wide range of industrial power systems through 69 kV. We also offer services to automate discrete and continuous processes as well as design custom machines. Our team utilizes the latest in software and technology for industrial power systems, instrumentation, automation, and communications.

Many projects are unique to a particular facility, while others share similarities that are based on standards published by NEMA, ANSI, IEC, API, OSHA, and NFPA. ECI serves a wide variety of industrial clients including discrete manufacturers and continuous process facilities such as petrochemical, mining, milling and smelting, pulp & paper, pipelines & terminals, and water pumping/wastewater treatment facilities.
