New York
ECI was tasked with developing a training and simulation system with the capability to emulate DNP3 & IEC-61850 based substations.
ECI’s scope of work included the design, procurement, fabrication, and shop testing of a fully functional simulator with HMI, RTU, IEDs, and network simulations. The system was first used to train stations personnel on the new ECI developed Advanced Protection & Control Platform. Subsequently, it was used as a test and validation platform by staff and contractors.
This project was executed in an eight-week period to enable the client to meet an aggressive timeline necessary for energization of multiple substations. ECI designed the system, procured material, constructed the lab panels, procured a travel trailer, prepared the trailer as a mobile training facility, mounted equipment in the trailer, tested and delivered to New York in under two months.
- Designed and procured a simulated protection and control platform for staff training purposes.
- Included HMI, RTU, IED, and network simulation.
- Completed in short time window to meet client’s energization goals.
