ECI was tasked with developing a lab configuration for use during the specification, testing and training required to implement Avangrid’s new Advanced Protection & Control Platform.
ECI’s scope of work included the design, procurement, fabrication and shop testing of a fully functional simulator with HMI, RTU, IEDs, and network simulations. The system was first used for testing and validation of all IEC-61850 and DNP protocol functions prior to field deployment, investigation of vendor software and firmware problems, and validation of system changes prior to field deployment.
